steady growth in population, with the expansion of
the industrial park and The Nelson Riverwood housing
development under construction it is expected that
Elmwood will experience further growth and

in the Elmwood School District consistently score
above national averages in standardized tests.
A progressive Board of Education works with local
residents to provide community-wide access to
facilities and programs. The West Central
Wisconsin Private Industry Council and the Wisconsin
Job Service provide coordinated training and
development services from Job Centers in Menomonie
and Ellsworth.
Elmwood Residents and businesses have excellent access to job training resources with technical instruction available at Chippewa Valley Technical College campuses in Menomonie, 19 miles east and River Falls, 28 miles west. Four other excellent technical schools are within a 60-mile radius. Medical Facilities
The Red
Cedar Clinic a member of the Mayo Health System is
located in Elmwood. Hospital service and
24-hour emergency medical services are provided at
Myrtle Werth Hospital in Menomonie and at River Falls
Hospital. We are centrally located from state
of the art medical facilities in Eau Claire,
Rochester and the Twin Cities.

Building/Remodeling Permits
Building Permits required
before any work or changes can be done to any
property within the Village limits.
Every person or entity desiring to build a structure on any premises in the Village of Elmwood, to structurally alter a building, or remodel a structure is required to obtain a building permit. Building permits are not required for replacement of furnaces, central air conditioners, water heaters, installation of cabinetry, and minor repairs as deemed by the Building Inspector.

Dogs
All dogs are to be
licensed once they are 5 months old and proof of
rabies vaccination must be shown at time of
licensing. The fees are $14.50 for Un-spayed or
Non-Neutered and 8.50 Spayed and Neutered dogs.

Seasonal Parking
Parking is
not allowed on any Village street between the hours
of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from November 1st to March
31st.
Snow and Ice Removal
Sidewalks
are to be cleared of snow within 24 hours after the
snow has ceased to fall. When ice has formed on
any sidewalk, it should be sprinkled with salt, sand,
or sawdust.
Garbage
The
garbage is picked up every Tuesday and should be out
by 6:00 a.m. Garbage stickers can be purchased
at Countryside Cooperative or if you prefer Waste
Management has 3 different sizes of refuse carts to
use. They will bill you directly. To

Recycling
Recycling
bins are located at the north end of Main St on Groot
Avenue and are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a
day.
Compost Pile
Leaves,
garden & yard waste can be taken to the compost
pile, which is at the end of the service road to the
right of the sewer plant, located on Groot
Avenue.
